Boy am I relieved that the Supreme Court affirmed our rights to own guns. It's nice to know that I will be able to own a handgun no matter where I am in the United States. If only our fore fathers had thought to put that into the constitution...
Those who support gun control must live in a make believe world. They think that by taking away an individual's right to own a gun, they are reducing gun crimes and deaths. Truthfully, if you ban guns, people will own them anyway. Therefore, if you own a gun and it is against the law gun related crimes are increasing.
Plus those law abiding citizens who own guns do not have them to commit crimes. This is why we call them "law abiding citizens." These people own guns to protect themselves when someone is threatening them.
Taking away someone's right to bear arms is the beginning of taking away all of their freedom. If the government were to take away our right to have guns, they take away our first, and basically our only form of self defense. When the government has all of the guns, the people have no way of fighting for their rights. This is why the founding fathers put the second amendment in the constitution.
I am glad that the Supreme Court upheld our rights to bear arms. But isn't it upsetting that they had to uphold that right? Isn't the second amendment perfectly clear?
To me it's certainly disconcerting that this was even a problem in our country. It's not just an issue of our right to keep and bear arms, but an issue that they are trying to take that right away. If they can take it away then it's a privilege not a right.
What other constitutional rights to liberals think are privileges?
